About This Site:
I am creating The Educated Horse Owner because as a long time horse owner myself I feel that there is not one reliable source for information that helps me to grow as a well rounded equestrian. When I have done web searches before I feel like I've only found websites that talk to me like a child. Teaching me how to pick hooves or brush a horse, when I am well beyond that knowledge. Or when I am looking for a more complicated answer, I am met with veterinarian level terminology.
Because of these things I am here to share my story and experiences. I am not creating this website to preach that my opinions are right or the only way. I am just here to share what knowledge I already have and the new information I find out along the way.
About Me:
So, I'm Sydney. I own two horses Cheeks, a bay Bashkir Curly gelding and Lilly, a grey Appendix mare. I have been riding since I was 9 1/2 and graduated from Centenary College in 2012 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Riding Instruction and Equine Business Management. While at college I competed on both the IHSA team and the Hunter/Jumper team. During and after college I taught hunter/jumper lessons and worked as a groom in Wellington. Through my experience of teaching lessons I really found a passion for passing along my knowledge.
